Art....

Here are some images of watercolors I've done and some new work of dog paintings with Corel Painter. Having studied with Fran Nola for years and then attending classes at a community college gave me the opportunity to explore the joys and frustrations of watercolor painting. Painting is a never-ending process of learning and I have "miles to go" but have been enjoying myself along the way. The digital process is so much fun and I have been having a blast with it.

Most of the subjects I choose allow me to use a small brush -my brush of choice. Several were created in Fran's Studio. She is a marvelous teacher and I learned most of what I know about painting due to her guidance. Fran is a very talented woman and I'm very grateful for her help!

The second link leads to copies of famous artists' work which I had to do when taking a watercolor class. I could never "hold a candle" to these masters, but it was fun to do each one. Granda Moses, Jamie Wyeth and Jane Wooster Scott are some of my favorite Americana artists. Grandma Moses was an extraordinary woman to begin painting in her late seventies and continue on until the age of 101! Jamie Wyeth is the grandson of NC Wyeth and comes from a long line of very talented painters. His choice of subjects as well as his use of light are what caught my eye. Jane Wooster Scott has a more decorative style and a variety of subjects which are delightful. I have no intention of ever selling these and give full credit to the masters who created them originally. They were painted purely to learn and to have fun and with great respect to their creators.

The Winslow Homer copies were the most difficult and I think he needs no description! His work takes my breath away.

Emulations of some Master Painters

Another exceptional artist who inspires me is Don Doyle and you can view his work here. His historical watercolors are without par and his dog paintings are truly magnificent!

Thanks so much for visiting and if you have work to share, I'd love to see it!
